Distilleria Gualco

Distilleria Gualco was established in 1870 by Gualco Paolo I, ancestor of the current owners.

The company is located in Silvano d'Orba, a lovely village in the south of Piedmont, in that part of Monferrato bordering with Liguria.

To expand in Italy and in the world the fame of grappa and liqueurs produced by the winery were especially Bartolomeo Gualco, from the thirties until 1971, and his niece Susanna Gualco who led the winery with great entrepreneurial skills until 2001.

Today, just like back then, the distillation plant of the company is a historical bain-marie still in the Piemontese style. With this artisanal still, typical of the regional tradition, an average of 12 liters of grappa is obtained in 1 hour from just over 200 kg of pomace.

The yields in terms of quantity are very low but the quality is excellent, as demonstrated by the international awards and recognitions that the distillery has received and continues to receive.

The current owners Giorgio and Marcella Soldatini, with the help of their father Alessandro, Susanna Gualco's son, continue the tradition by introducing new products and making innovations in the production process without altering the essence and the unique characteristics of Gualco's grappa.
